I waited one whole week after I had to put my Alfie down (I know I'm a callous bitch) before meeting my new puppy. He was only five weeks at the time so I had three more weeks to back out of the deal. My gut kept telling me to not go through with it, but I did. I'd love to say he's the best pup ever, after all he had a textbook equation for a balanced happy puppy upbringing, but Rover is a jerk. Maybe he'll outgrow his reactivity, his dislike of puppies and his hatred of the boys who got to keep their packages, maybe not. But he's my jerk and like your Fish, has moulded positive changes, i.e. instead of standing around watching him play in a dog park (since he cant be trusted not to attack any dog other than an all grown up lady dog) I walk him two hours every day. I don't miss dog parks, but I'd sure miss my jerk Rover.
